Projects and Use cases

Micro-Bio-CHP

This European project aims to create a nearly energy-independent multi-family building by generating its own electricity and heat.

The fuel cell produces electricity from gasified pellets, serving as a reliable backup power source for solar panels. The leftover product gas is combusted in a product gas burner to supply space heating and domestic hot water

Lilly

In collaboration with EMPA, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research, and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), this InnoSuisse project aims to miniaturize SOFCs for low power systems (<1 kW) and mobile applications by integrating fuel processing units, including gas reformer and post-combustion chamber, directly into the stack. The design generates sufficient heat within the system to achieve autothermal operation, improving overall system efficiency without the need for additional heat sources.

GreenAlps

This European project aims to provide a cost-effective and reliable SOFC system in a monolithic design. Collaborating with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and Resolvent, the focus is on improving the core of the system in terms of reliability, efficiency, and thermomechanical stability.
